Recommend a tapping bit?

Can anyone with experience recommend a tapping bit for me? I've decided I want to upgrade to a real tapping bit, went online and saw all the choices, price spreads etc and sort of gave up LOL. I'd like to order one so I can start tapping in 2 weeks (weather permitting). I've only been at this hobby for 2 years, but for this upcoming season I'd like to be using a real bit instead of the VT Amercan wood bit from the hardware store I'm using now. Any help...bit brand, web link, etc would be appreciated. I don't mind spending a little extra for quality, I just don't know what to buy. Thanks in advance everyone.

I wouldn't tap without one. I have used one for the last two years. Makes a nice clean hole and will last along time if you take care of it. The one that I bought was from lappierre. I think I paid around $15. There are probably others that work just as good or better. I bought a lappierre because that is what was in stock at the supplier.

I like the canadian tapping bit from Bascoms they cut a nice clean hole fast in thawed or frozen wood. As for lasting a long time, i find it best after 800 to 1000 holes to replace it as the holes arnt as clean and they dont drill as easy
