Guess it's about time to start thinking about the 2014 season!!!
Started yesterday on tearing apart my evaporator...top rail and smoke stack need replacing (rusted out)possibly new smoke pipe too!

I'm impressed you've waited this long. I'm pretty new to it all so I've been puttering around the garage making evaporator improvements for the last two months.

After looking at the amount of rebuilding the evaporator needs, not sure if I'll sugar this year or not.
Don't really need to.. have syrup left over, not a lot of wood ready and need to be done by April 1st. Plus with this cold weather, just can't get in the mood to move (work in sugarhouse).

Got mine tore abort too. Just picked up some steel stock for repairs. Sealed some gaps last weekend. Guess this will be the 10th season for this homemade rig.

Boy...the way this season is shaping up, I'm glad I decided to take a year off..
No way I'd be done by April 1st (going on vaca)
