I am trying to set up an Airablo electric vaccum pump. It has a 5 hp electric motor which is wired into a box that allows you to set it on manual or auto. The power going into the box is straight forward with a L1, L2 and a netural hook up. The moisture trap that i have has a float wired in that if hook to the pump would shut off the motor if the trap fills with sap. I need to find out where to wire that to the pump.

First of all is the float switch rated for the amperage that the motor draws. If it isn't you will need to use a starter switch simular to an air compressor. Also you have L1and L2 which are 120 each so if your switch is meant for 220/240 both legs need to be wired into the switch.
So L1and L2 into switch then out and to the two hot leads of motor. Neutral and ground staight to motor.

If the switch isn't double pole, you can just switch 1 leg but be sure to set it up so you won't touch the remaining hot leg. This is true of any 220-240V motor. Your switch must be rated at 125% of the FLA (full load amps) rating on the motor name plate. If not, you need to use a relay that is rated high enough.

I've got the same issue. Most likely you need a magnetic starter, which is what I plan to do.

I have a CDL moisture trap w/ float switch. The float switch has 20ga?? leads coming off it. I don't think this can be wired in-line with the pump motor, so I think I need to wire it to the VFD somehow...basically sends a signal to the VFD telling it shut down, then restart the pump. I just haven't figured out how to do this yet, so for now, it'll be dummy moisture trap. You may need to do the same.
