AUF pictures ideas??

posted this in homemade with no replies so I thought I tried here.. I built a 2x4 arch (see homemade forum for pics) I want to add air under the grates. does anyone have any pictures of the manifold? or they just blowing air straight into ash box?? my last rig had a pipe running down the center with holes drilled in but it always filled with ash. looking for new ideas thanks

For AUF you dont need a manifold just pipe in under the grates. You need a blower with a rheostat or a damper to control the amount of air.

Usually when using AUF you have an 'arched' grate with round holes versus the slots in many grates designed for natural draft arches. See pages 26 and 27 of current Leader catalog for a good depiction of both. Hope this helps.
