I hope to test boil my set up next week. I am planning on putting some Fireplace gasket rope under the pans on the edges. I got 1/4"dia. gasket rope. Is this enough or should I go to a bigger dia.? It's a new evap.2x8 Dallaire s/s pans.

If you can get to a dealer close by, the flat pan gaskets will work better for you for the long run. But the rope should work, it just might be a little harder to keep in place.

You also might be able to fine some partial rolls of ceramic blanket on e-bay. That is what I did and cut 2" strips and it worked out great. Also have alot left over for years to come and it was less expensive too :D

I checked the McMaster Carr web site. Which gasket did you get? Too many and I'm not sure which to get.

the gasket i use is 2x.116 part no 8817k86. .60 cents per ft.this upcoming 07 season will be my third year on the original strips and they look new.i remove my pans daily to rotate my syrup pans and it holds up very well.

If you look at the MapleGuys.com web site you will find rail gasket there in their online catlog. I asked them about it and Chris was very nice and posted it on thier site. I think they have 1/8x2 and 1/4x2. I got the 1/4 x 2. :D
