I'm building a arch from a 275 gal fuel tank. Can I just line it w/ fire board or blanket or do I need to brick it? It's gonna be wood fired.

You'll want fire brick in the fire box. It will protect the blanket. I didn't brick the first year and the blanket got tore up and the heat began to warp the sides of the arch. No real damage done, but a pain.

could the fire box be lined with hardi backer topped with firebrick, I realize the heat is much greater but hardie backer was the reccomended insulation for my hearth for my woodstove

I might last a season. It isnt really insulation, more along the lines of a fire retardant. It will still transfer heat.

The ceramic blanket is amazing. I can hold my hand on the side of my arch no problem.

I found it at SPI Specialty products and insulation. $70 for 2' x 25' roll. I was able to pick it up locally. Shipping is high because of thr weight.
