I'm trying to do things as cheap as I can so here goes. 5/16 is the inside diameter correct? My brother is a plumber and says to check to see if it is actually 3/8 tubing? Cuz he thinks he can get that cheaper from supplier than what is advertised by -----guys.... brand new here wanting to save a buck.

Nope the maple tubing is 5/16...as are all the fittings and spiles...3/8 won't seal properly

Go with the tubing from a maple dealer supplier along with there fittings. Yes its 5/16 ID.

I Agree w/ Chris and others. Get tubing designed for Maple Sap collection. Check around w/ dealers for best price. plumbers tubing in my experience in small use does not stretch well, sags and collapes on itself. Some of the new tubing coming out is better yet then that of past years.

There's plenty of other things he might be able to save you money on getting set up. If you use black mainline, valves, fittings and such.
