red maple tappers

do reds run sooner than sugar? I have both and wondered if I missed the red maple run last year , did well with the sugar thanks,

I generally finf that reds start about the same time as sugars, but they pop bud earlier, so you get a shorter season. My reds aften open bud 7-10 days before sugars if the temps aren't too high. The higher the temps the shorter the difference is.

Sugars are like guys. Reds are like women. You be the judge of what that means.

Reds run at the same time but can be finicky if you don't have vacuum. Mine run just as long as sugars, if anything my roadside sugars shut down first, but then again they r not on vacuum.

Reds on buckets can be hit or miss. they tend to shut down at weird times and some seem to never really get going unless things are just perfect. hook them to vacuum they run really good!!!
