How do i set up a gravity line ?

so im running my first gravity line this year im just not sure people are saying I need to run one end really high in a tree but what about the hose running to tree can u tap that high in a tree or what ?? any help would be nice??

the land is completely flat no hills at all , distance prob 150 yards

I don't think that's going to work. Are you just going to do clumps of trees or are you trying to run the full 150 yards? In flat areas I will run 4 or 5 trees together if they're close enough and tap high on one and then work my way down on each tree towards the bucket.

soo I would be better off running a buch of small lines ?

Last year I had 59 taps on flat land. All I did was start the first tap up real high and gradually ended low running into a tank. It worked really well and I can send you pictures if you have a cell phone number or you can text me at 1-570-529-3350. Thank you. Bix

Dairy Farmer, It is just like the milk line in the barn...2% slope in sap is a good minimum. So on 150 yds...450 feet you will need to have 9 feet of drop from the far end to the outlet. This is not practical to tap trees this high so you will need to run short runs to a central point to collect...or...if you are running vacuum then we can use the same physics as used in the getting the milk from the claw to the pipe line and build a sap ladder.

Good suggestions. 5% drop would be great. But 2% will work. Keep them running down hill and tight. We run 600 taps on a lot of flat areas. Most of ours are 12 to 20 tap short run gravity tubing systems. You can tap as high as you wan in the tree. Sap will run at any level.
