I'm in Pepperell, MA (new to this forum, btw), and wondering the same. Made about 4 gallons on 8 taps last year, and my daughter is on the last quart now. This week is 40's & 50's in the day, and 20's & 30's at night. Thinking it ougt to flow, but this will only be my 3rd year, so far from an expert.
Not trying to rush the season, but would like to get a couple quarts this week IF it is flowing. My only other concern is will I hurt my overall season by tapping a couple trees now?

Been fixing tubing. Got a few hundred more taps/lines to check and fix. Then I plan to start tapping this coming week, since I lose my work force on 1/21 as the return to college.

Sure seems early yet, I have not seen decent sap in my buckets early on in previous years. Also seems like it may cool down again. "if" If i could accurately predict this... oh well, just a guess!

Wasn't ready yet, but if the long range is correct (it never is), I'd be looking to tap early in February.

Tapping, heck I just today got the lumber ordered for my new sugar shack, the guy said I should have it in a week or two. I am not a fan of cold weather but I hope the season does not start until early to mid February. Plus still trying to find a deal on a bigger evaporator for this season. I have a lot to do in the meantime, floors to put in, bathroom to remodel, siding to put up. Should be ready by 2015-2016, maybe! The sugar shack is going to be on skids but is planned for 16 x 14 with 4 ft overhang on front. I am going to make it with 4 x 6 timbers for the walls and tin on the roof.first time using timbers should be fun.

I may rinse 1 line Friday and put out 100 taps Saturday. Did that line last year January 10th and it was still running well in april after we lost our sugar content and quit for the year. I think with these new cv taps I'd liked to be all tapped in by around the 10 th of February and maybe get lucky and catch a couple early runs.

Starting to tap today. Last year I was tapped 10 weeks and still had sap flow with the CV1's, still running when I shut down because the buds were ready to open. This year I'm all CV2's, hope they are as good or better.

To early in the North Country next myup, onth for sure.
yup, here to. too early. but. Last year I tapped valantines. first boil wasent till March 1. Said I would never tap that early again. tell you what though, with the lack of snowpack, I am not gonna miss out on any early runs. plus, I use the CV spouts. I was still boiling on April 7 and could have continued.
