Hello All,

I am looking to pump sap from a storage tank up 5 to 6 ft to a tank on my tractor. Then from my tractor 5-6ft up to the storage tank at the sugar shack. In both of these situations the tanks have drains which will be lower than the pump. Been looking for somewhat cheap solutions. The tractor is right there so I have 12V available. I have been looking at "Aerator Pumps" which are basically a bilge pump that has an inlet pipe and outlet pipe. Something like the:

Has anyone tried one of theses?

A 1200GPH unit runs about $40.

Looking at the spec sheet. The 1200 GPH at 6.7 ft is pumping like 570 gph.

Any suggestion would be great. Also if you are using a bilge pump to pump similar to this (6 ft lifts) please let me know.

Thanks,

I have used a 12V bilge pump for the same purpose and works well. Mine came with alligator clamps which made hookup easy. I purchased mine through Amazon. They have several different sizes. Let me know if you want more information.

I use a 12v bilge pump to pump sap from my dumping station on the back of my pick-up to the tank in the bed. The pump is a Rule 3700. It works great and I've had no trouble with it.

The Rule bilge pumps seem real good. I would recommend 3000 gph or up. We have used them (2) for about 10 years.

And I should add that the Rule pumps were recommended to me by Chris about 4-5 years ago when I was looking for a reliable pump! LOL!
