The pump I'm planning on getting this season has 1" ports. Where can I find quick connection fittings that size? I'm coming up empty on my searches.

SeanD,
Our local big-box farm store has a good selection of these poly QD fittings. They are in the crop sprayer section.

This is by far the least expensive place to buy them. Stainless are cheaper than most places sell plastic

Thanks for the link that those are great prices. I couldn't get items to add to my shopping cart, but I sent them an e-mail asking what was up. I think its worth the wait for those prices on stainless.

I placed an order last night after I saw Thads post, everything went through for me. Even with shipping still saved a lot over buying local

I'm just about to make this purchase and want to double-check that I have the right fittings. The Type F adapter looks like it has an NPT male end to go into my pump ports and the Type C coupler has a smooth male end I can slide and clamp in my hose, right? Do I have those matched up correctly?

Also, do I need to buy gaskets for these or do they typically have them already?

Thanks for the help,
Sean

SeanD,
My experience was that the barbed fitting type had a pretty small ID thru the barbed fitting. I ended up cutting off the barbed fitting and tapping them for pipe thread in the lathe. This allowed a much larger hose to be used for connections.
Mine came with gaskets.

Thanks for the help. I'll need a barbed fitting for the hose anyway, right? What did you use the join the coupler to the hose?

I tapped them 1/2 inch pipe thread, then used half of a 1/2 NPT X 6 inch nipple, or the male end of a street el. After tapping, I reamed out some restricting material in the inside diameter. 3/4 ID clear hose just barely can be pushed on. These are the SS ones from Austin Brewery Supply and are no longer available from them.
So I am recommending only male or female pipe threads in those. In the larger 1 1/2 and 2 inch poly QCs that I use for sap, those barbed fittings seem fine.

From a molasses haulers experience the sugars do something to the plastic connectors over time. and cause failure. Stay away from the aluminum as the sugar oxidizes them rapidly and the need a coating of food grade grease to last.

Thad GREAT site! I use to buy 2" by the case in Aluminum or brass because the SS was way more. These are fantastic prices for the best item grade.

Thanks!
Ben
