Has anyone read the maple news? I was interested in the arrival about cutting off the crown of saplings. Does anyone know how it was done and how it affects the trees growth.

Hopefully Dr. Tim will respond asap before this gets out of hand.

Something like this would probably be best suited to a woodlot that gets attacked by ALB, somewhere I read that they don't go after trees under 2 inches, provided there are any in the first place. It would prolong syrup production a few more years.

Please note this method is NOT tapping. We do not advocate tapping of trees this small.
