Last year I ran about 30 taps with buckets, this year I am going to about 150 taps on sap sacs.

I was catching up on sac threads yesterday and read how some people got leaky sacs last year.

I am getting ready to order a bundle of 250 or 400 sacs, and was wondering if anyone has bought sacs this year and has tested them and had problems? What is the thickness of sacs? I saw one place that said theirs were 5mm ( or .5), is that normal, thicker than normal?

Thanks guys

Also, I am making the PVC holders

I used about 100 last year and had no leakers. They were the blue ones.

There a place called shadow plastics.com that have sap sacks advertised as 5 mil, they are $70 for 250ct, anyone use these, does 5mil sound thicker or thinner than other bags?

The blue sap sacs are 5 mil by spec. My wife company used to distribute to some of the retailers. To get a better pricing from there supplier I had to buy 10,000 so the best deal out there is still the case of 250 from a maple dealer for $55. I ran 1100 last year and only had 3 leakers and that was probably from poking something in the woods.
