How tall to build

starting on my sugarhouse soon and I want to make sure that I have the height right. How tall would you guys make the sugarhouse so I can expand to a 4 X16 (maybe 6X18) or something of the sorts. I want to make sure that I have the height to expand if needed

Well if you are planning on going to a steam away or piggy back some day you have to allow for that. Most of them are about 24" some a little more making the whole thing close to 7' depending on the rig. I made my walls 9' and used scissor trusses to give some extra height.

I wouldn't go less than 10 foot. You'll never regret the extra room.

yes, 10', but you will want a hood to carry the steam out.

thanks guys, 10 feet it is......No hood yet though, spending a fortune as it is now......Maybe next year

Agreed. 10 foot is a minimum if your doing a steam away and hoods in the future.

Agree with the above. I have 8 ft walls. 10 would have been much better.
