After a short 12 hour drive, I finally picked up my new Smoky Lake hybrid pan. It looks fantastic! I was nervous about having an accident on the way home, not worried about the car or myself, worried about damaging the new pan. Hopefully I can do a test boil soon.
I am curious to hear how it performs. I am thinking of one of his pans - either the 2x3 or 2x4
good luck!

Can you post a picture of the pan? Oh, and congrats on the safe drive home.

Pibster, glad to hear I'm not the only one that will be driving to pickup some pans from Jim. I should be getting mine on Nov 10. I also am going to be nervous about damaging them on the ride home.
I'm getting a 2x2 syrup and 2x4 drop flue pan. The minivan will be kinda full on the way home ;-)
I'm also curious to hear what kind of performance you get on your pan.

I will post the results from my test boil, probably this weekend or next. It barely fit in the back seat, another 1-1/2" and I'd be in trouble.

I used my 2x4 hybrid last season. It was amazing! with properly cut wood, pre-heater and blower I hit 25gph.

Pibster, I don't think it would be so unreasonable to consider taking off one or both rear doors. Small price to pay to get those beauties home safely....

I love the sound of that. What were you using for a preheater? How often did you clean the nitre from the pan?
