I think he may be referring to using it for concentrate.

Homestead, I think Super Sapper is correct if using them for concentrate they sap hydrometers only go up to 12%.. I have always wanted one that had increments in points that I can read on the syrup side of things. So I bought a set and will have them calibrated this spring.

I didn't think about that because I only concentrate to 8%. I have an Atago refractometer to use if I ever went above 10% I suppose.

What is the difference betwen the brix scale and the Baume scale? Which one is better for using in the production of maple syrup?
