This is my first year and I am experiencing what I read most others go through when you first catch the maple virus. I see maple trees everywhere, even on vacation. I feel like a Maple Zombie. Anyway, while on vacation I noticed samaras on this tree. Anyone recognize it?

My first guess is a Japanese maple.

My guess would be some kind of Amur Maple. It doesn't look like anything native here. Was this a landscape tree? If so, it might be a hybrid or subspecies bred as an ornamental.

Yes, it was a landscape tree among many red maples and some sugars at Trout Lodge in Potosi, Missouri. I think it was amur too. Never heard of it before this week and first thought it was a hybrid too but now I'm pretty sure it is an amur maple. The source I read said they rarely get above 20 ft. This one may have been 12 ft high.
Just thought it was interesting. Driving my family crazy with the constant maple watching.
