I'm looking to repurpose a RO system ( Hellenbrand 4400) that was used to pre-treat boiler water. I'd like to configure/optimize the system to support a 250-500 tap operation.
It has the following :
Procon Pump series 4, 240 gph
1.5 HP motor
recirculation valve/line return before HP pump
(4) XLE-2540 membranes piped 2 parellel combined and fed into 2 in series.
I have no problem recirculating from concentrate tank. The package came with spare 240 gph pumps and I have an extra 1.5 HP motor so I have alot of options. The trees I tap are big ( ave 2.5 taps/tree ) and have big crowns. My first years sap averaged over 3%. I'd like to try running 10% +- sugar.
I'm curious what others recommend for membrane configuration and the thought of adding another pump.
What would be my expected output??
