A new Maple Digest research publication by Tim Wilmot (UVM Maple Extension) on the yield of sap from 1 versus 2 taps per tree (under vacuum conditions) has been posted on the UVM PMRC webpage http://www.uvm.edu/~pmrc/ Look under the "New Publications" section on the right side. It is the top link.

We gratefully acknowledge the North American Maple Syrup Council Research Fund (http://www.northamericanmaple.org/index.php/en/namsc-research-fund) and the Chittenden County (VT) Maple Sugar Makers Association for their support of this work.

This is just one part of an integrated series of studies at PMRC examining tapping guidelines and sustainability. Stay tuned.
