Snowy Pass Maple

Anyone tapping birch trees in southern NY/new england area?
I have had some black birch taps out for a couple weeks watching the sugar - put them in towards end of maple when we had a warm spell, and got 0.3% sugar. Stayed there over a week - then as the most recent warm spell ended maple, sugar rose to 0.6%, which is what I've seen in prior years. However, as temperatures got into the 70s, I stopped collecting as it's just too hard to get it processed and cooled fast enough. Then with temperatures back into the 40s/50s, I started collecting again, and back to 0.3%!
This is also later in the year than the prior two that I've done birch - wondering what others are seeing.
While RO is awesome, starting at 0.3% is just ridiculous...
