My neighbor down the road bought a CDL Hobby R/O from a local dealer for $5800. Waterguy in Maple Digest advertise a 150-200 gal. per hour R/O for $3955.Is anyone out there familar with them?I'm I comparing apples to oranges?Price wise Waterguy is a better deal but what I'm a missing about the two.

I think the CDL unit is only designed to take the sap up to 4% on a single pass. The waterguy unit may go higher, I'm not sure. I do know there have been many postings here about waterguy units having issues. Search this section and you'll find them. I'm not for or against either of them. You need more performance info before you decide which is the "better deal". What "features" do they both have? How about maintaining them? Technical support? Replacement parts? How close is a CDL or Waterguy dealer to you?
Going back to your opening statement, what does your neighbor think of the CDL unit? Just curious.

I suggest you also compare a Ray Gingerich RO. I have one and am very pleased with it. I can go from 2% sap to 8% concentrate in 1 pass. I also recirculate the concentrate for even higher concentration. This seems to only work well to 15%. Ray's units were less costly than a Waterguy and the CDL units. I have a 250 gph. For next year I hope to get a 500, but I'll need to decide next week, after I see how hard the tax man will be on me (tax appt. 4/12).
I already have a buyer lined up.

I have a cdl hobby 250 and its a great machine, it has a true recirculation pump that lets it run thousands of gal of sap without much decrease in flow rate. I added a third membrane to mine, i often go to 10 percent sap in two passes, starting with about 1.5 to 2 percent usualy.

We have used a Waterguy unit the past two years. We have never had much luck getting more than a 50% water removal (3% sap to 6% concentrate) in one pass.
