Thats it!! I have about 300 gal of .9 sap from yesturday and I am gonna dump it! I just can not justify making syrup at 95:1 ratio.

I need to get a sap hydrometer so that doesn,t happen to me soon.

If I dumped all of the 1% sap I collected this year I wouldn't have made a drop of syrup. I sit now with about 25 gallons of finished syrup...that's right nearly 2400 gallons of 1% went through my 2x6, my best year ever.

I was just given about 225 gallons of 1.2%. I will boil it in the AM.

ive made 100 gallons out of 400 gallons of syrup on my 4x12 with 1%. midway through season it went from 2% to 1% pratically over night. and im still going, as long as i have wood and its 1%. today and yesterday when the sun came out i got 600 gallons from 1300 taps.

Plus it was pretty ripe by the time I got home.

Compared to last year this was a banner one. Made about 11 times more syrup!! Thats a gret thing.

Other than that we have 11 gal of some great syrup from about 150 taps. I learned a few good lessens for sure, got the new shack built, got the sugar bush tubing started, this is only the seconds season on this property so not bad.

My biggest mistake was boiling for hours and hours with a fouled burner!!! Clean fire brick with no soot had me convinced the brick lay out was causing my poor boil condition. I had my pan off I bet 10 times adjusting and tweeking and trying etc etc. Then the tranformer crapped out so I had to buy a new one that is when I lost my case of tunnel vision replaced my burner nozzel and combustion cone and wella back up into the 20s GPH!!! This was yesturday!!

worked to hard, to long, spent to much money glad its over and can't wait for 14!! :)
