Does anyone know where a guy can get a good heavy duty fire-poker...1/2 inch round stock with a handle and a hook about 4 feet long.
Are they sold anywhere? If so please advise where and how much? Thanks, BHCM

Make one yourself. Probably take all of 30 minutes.

I have some like that, but I seldom find them convenient to use (but they are not for sale). Rather, I use one I have that is only 3/8" rod, lighter and can handle the work since my wood is all split wrist size. Just take some cold rolled rod and a torch. Get it red hot and make a hook bend on one end, then with more heat and a little time you can form a loop for a handle on the other end. All you need is a good hot torch (Mapp gas will work but acetylene is far better). If you have a propane torch just get a bottle of Mapp gas.

I bought one from Tractor Supply; it was on seasonally clearance so the cost was like $4.00. It is made of a 4 foot piece of 3/8 square stock with a point and a hook, the handle has a nice curved loop that you can easily grasp. For $4.00 I couldn’t make one for that.
