Since the E8 membranes have been out for a couple of years now, I was wondering what everybody thinks about them. I have PVD1's right now and need to replace after the season. I am leaning toward the E8's since I high process to high concentrate (19%). Do they seem to maintain flow rates if washed and rinsed properly?

I bought one this year, and absolutely love it. I concentrate to 18%+, and it maintains a high flow rate. I am buying one for my other column next year.

Mike, have you ever used XLE440s? I've been told they are actually the same as E8, but E8 is marketed as a "maple" membrane. But I'd love to hear if the flow rates really is superior!

I am considering new membranes this year. I have two, one is a fluid systems, and the other is a nf270. What membranes would be an improvement? Are the E8's better flow rates? Pass sugar? Any suggestions?

The NF270 is the fastest membrane in the NF membrane family from Dow. It will pass sugar at 12% and higher concentration levels. It also has to be washed at a ph of 9 or lower to keep the pores in the membrane from opening up. I am using an XLE membrane now and it is very tight. I concentrate from 14% to 18% and nothing passes through it. I have used the NF90 in the past and it too is a tight membrane but slower than the XLE.
If you want speed and concentrate to lower percentages the NF270 will be the fastest. If you concentrate to higher percentages the E8 or XLE Would be the fastest tight membranes.
