buddy sap/syrup

hi

i am wondering if one can smell or taste buddy sap?? or do i need to cook some sap down to tell??

buds on the trees aren't real big yet but after almost a week of no freezes except Sat. night and rain on Monday i'm getting cold weather again and the trees are running again

i don't want to ruin some sweet i need to finish off by adding bad sap to it

You take a sample if the "possibly buddy" sap and put it in a sauce pan on your kitchen stove. Bring it to a boil and if it smells like dead rotten fish then it has officially become buddy sap!
