What is the correct way or easiest to clean? Will turning it inside out hurt it? Anything else?
Thanks

We clean ours out until the end of the season, then throw it out. They get darker and darker, and we don't want to start the season with a grungy one.

Some people throw in washing machine without soap. But if you've ever taken a washer apart you'd probably realize its not the best idea. There's a lot of grunge behind the drum. I turn mine inside out to clean. Haven't seen any effect on filtering yet. Just don't wring it out.

I turn ours inside-out and run hot water through it. Once that is done I put hot water in a bucket and swish the filter through it also forcing it up and down in the water. Dump the water and re-fill until the water is clear. Our filter is three years old. To dry we hang it over the wood stove.

I clean my flat wool filters the same way, though I usually dunk it in some hot sap to recover some of the sugar before rinsing it. Also, they say not to wring them out as you damage the fibers. I get years of use out of each filter.
