Ohio has had a great maple season. I was wondering how things were going further north: Canada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Upstate NY, Maine, VT, NH. What is the consensus?

Hard to say.....most of those places are still in the thick of it. Southern VT is probably at 75+% of a crop or better. Northern VT probably at 25-50% depending how far northeast and how high up in the hills. At PMRC we're at 62% of our minimum target (we use 0.5 gal/tap as our minimum). We've got a bit of a cold snap the next couple of days, but after that looks like great sugaring weather if the forecast holds out. We should be going at least a few more weeks, and more than that in the normally cold spots and high elevations. Shaping up to be a good season.

I'm in northern NH (60 miles south of the Quebec line). I'm at 92 gallons (>80% of full crop) and I expect another 1-2 weeks of sugaring. Going back into cold weather to recharge the trees again. I tapped 1 month ago so my trees should still have another two weeks before drying up.

Well I'm in the mid-Hudson Valley of south east New York State and I think I had a great year. But it's only my 2nd year. 55 taps= 14.50 gallons of syrup. One gallon of med amber, the rest dark amber. Only I think becouse I could not boil fast enough and it sat in the tank a few days. I'm Happy!

Was talking w/someone else nearby about how good the year has been here - we are going to end with about 0.5 gal/tap on gravity buckets which is way more than I would have expected. Maybe it's that special Canadian tapping bit we finally broke down and bought

So at minimum, sounds like most areas doing well and will make up for last year's poor season. Can't imagine anything happening in the US will impact price much - anyone know how Quebec is looking?

I'm sitting at about 0.25 gallons of syrup per tap right now, on 90% Red Maples under vacuum. I consider that to be a good year. Still have at least 1 week left. For other folks out there with Red Maples, how are you doing?

Still waiting here in the northern adirondaks of New York. I managed to get 300 gal of sap on 400 taps on gravity Saturday and 160 gal on Sunday. Made 12.5 gallons of light amber. Still waiting for the trees to open up as we still have a foot and a half of snow up on the mountain. Looking forward to Thursday as it is going to warm up and maybe be sugaring weather. Im going to keep my fingers crossed.

We're at just about 0.8L per tap in Eastern Ontario. It looks like we should get another good couple of weeks of sappin' weather.

In Central Ontario (couple of hours north of Niagara Falls) we are having a good season with about .7 L per tap so far and still lots of snow on ground. Great forcast with -9 C (16 F) and heading to +8 C (48 F) on Thurs - so expecting a major new run of sap?

Waaaaaaay ahead of last year but short of our minimum 1.0L/tap and our goal of beating our all-time record.

Would say that it has been very good so far east of ottawa. At about .5 L /tap and expecting a good run Thurs, boil Friday another Sat, boil Sunday.
I might guess we will wind up very close to 1L per tap.
