Prefilter reuse

Just wondering if anyone out there reuses their cone prefilters. If so how do you clean them and how many times do you use them? Also I see where some people wet their prefilters before use and others do not. Any comments on that?

Rinse them out and reuse them. usually 4 or 5 times. always wet them before use

I get a good half dozen or more uses out of them. Rinse with hot water and squeeze water out, don't wring, just like the felt filters. When they outlast their usefulness for syrup they make great sap filters.

I use the 24" x 36" flat paper prefilters (and flat synthetic wool filters) I use each one many dozens of times. Can't remember the last time a bought a dozen! I never pre-wet the filters or the prefilters.
