I guess I ran out of patience. Pulled all my taps this morning after I arrived to my small bush to see bright red tree tops. Hopefully I'll fair better next year, made about 5 gallons of good syrup though. Had hopes for much more. Also had a very low sugar content, took at least 60 gallons of sap for a gallon these past few weeks.

5 gallons is not too bad for 30 taps. I usually make 110 gallons on 700 taps which is a about the same ratio. Just sniff around for more trees for next season.

5 Gal from 30 taps is crazy good! I have not been over Epping way but I hope we have 2 -3 more weeks here.

I guess it is what it is, whatever Mother gives us! :)

Old saying used to be a quart per tap...on 30 taps that would be 7.5 gal..
Heck..I get 5 gal from my 15 taps..

Sorry to hear that it is over for you. I almost expected to hear the peepers this afternoon but not yet. I lost a little ground today. My wood is getting iffy and I boiled 30 gallons and took in a little over 35. We have 3 1/2 gallons finished with probably more than that in concentrate from three boils this week. Looking for about 8 bgallons from the 18 taps. The tubing has made a heck of a difference as by now my taps are usually dried up.

It depends on the trees. With the roadside buckets on big healthy trees, I get more than twice the sap (and sweeter sap) than my woods trees.

Last year I made 3 gallons on just 8 taps. My new spot with 24 taps never really got a chance to take off I guess. One day I did pull over a gallon per tap. I think the clouds and wind is what did it in.

5 gallons on 30 taps.... excellent season I would say!!! but you should have had a little more patience as we got a freeze last night you might get a little more sap today!!! my tree tops are getting brighter red too but still haven't popped!!!! if they don't pop yet looks like a freeze Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday night!!! Geez I might have to split more wood dam!!! Guess I will do that tomorrow!!! :(

Don't give up on the season because of buds until you smell it while boiling and taste it in the syrup! Last season the reds were almost in full flower and I still didn't have a buddy taste. When the weather permits I go until mid April too.

The cold wind and clouds kept the sap flows small and the buckets are sitting at 7.5 gals per tap. Thankfully the vacuum has been keeping me busy in this second best season out of the last 5.

Rookie mistake! With 30 taps it was an easy fix though.

didn't check the gravity lines but got 125 gallons of sap so far. and its still trickling in on the vac. I know there is at least a little sap from the gravity.

Be patient. My taps have been dry since last Tuesday. This morning (when I had decided I was finished for the season) more than half of my taps were running. I collected about 6 gallons from 34 taps before going to Easter celebrations..... Maybe we have one more run left?????? Just saying..... (or dreaming?)

After the last two cold days the temperature here is trying to climb into the upper 40's. I checked the woods at 11:00, and its GAME ON! I tapped-in on February 24th this year, it's now April 4th and the trees are still hammering. I'm sold on the seasonal CV taps.

I've got a few taps still running and sweet. Yesterday, I collected about 4 gallons from them. Not much but, why waste it? :D

Its flowing for me, I got 300 gallons out of the vac woods between monday and last night. Most of it had just run. I still have 1 gravity barrel that's still running a bit. Accuweather is saying below 32 tonight and tomorrow, but I'll wait and see. Thinking about pulling sunday morning. Got to start getting hay equipment ready and put some nutrients out on the fields.
