Great year to test CV's

I converted to all CV's when they came out because the principle behind them was sound. I never really had a chance to to test that principle until this year. We set out our 1500 taps on Jan. 23-24 and quit collecting yesterday out of exhaustion. The trees are still running and I have given the sap to neighboring producers.
I'm sure our cold spring weather was a factor, because we rarely have snow on the ground in Connecticut during maple season.
Our trees have been running into our 10th week now and have yielded an average of over 40 gallons per tap. I cannot imagine that kind of sap production without check valves.

That's some incredible production. This is a great year for the test. The jury is still out for me. I only have 136 taps. They have been out since Jan. 7th. I don't know if anything should run that long. Our weather has not been good lately. This weekend should be excellent sap weather. If the flow rate comes back to normal I will say these are the greatest.

I'm happy with CV's yet again as well, I tapped Jan 28th or so and still got over a gallon per tap yesterday, up to 27 gpt so far for the season.

What kind of sugar content were you two getting after that many weeks and that much sap moving through your taps?
I have always wondered if you can actually exhaust the sugar supply after taking so much sap per tap.

I was at 1.1% yesterday, season started at 1.5%. 70%+ redmaples.

I only have a about 300 CVs I am planning on changing out at least 1,000 next season probably CV2s along with the drops as the tubing is 5-6 years old other than where it has been repaired. It is also my first full season with vacuum only about 600 taps out of 1300 and I am very pleased thus far and considering I am only about 1 days worth of sap from matching last years sap and actually making more syrup because of higher sugar content I am pleased. My sugar content has not been below 2.0 and all the syrup has been fancy.

The last two weeks, the sugar content varied from 1.5 to 1.0 %. Not the best, but it started at 2.2%. Luckily for me with an RO, it all evens out in the end.

We only use CVs and we tapped middle of January this year. Sap runs are strong. We had our sugar content up to 3.25 two weeks ago. Now testing at 2.75. We were a little concerned about tapping so early but no issues to date.
