I put most of my budget towards evaporator and home RO. Went economical on the taps and equip. Inexpensive clear plastic taps and a 500' roll of tubing. Most tress are larger and get 2 taps that feed to a 5 gallon pail with a lid. Since there is heavy snow cover I left my tubes a bit long. In some cases I guess they collect a bit as a trap and have frozen. Does this really matter if the sap has not backed up to the spile? I would assume that unless the tube started backing up the tree is just not flowing?
Set our taps on Saturday late afternoon. As of today some pails are bone dry, but a couple are nearly full so things are starting to flow a bit.
