Saturday morning on my way back to start my vacuum pump I happened onto these tracks in the snow. The only time the prints were side by side is when the animal stopped. Otherwise, the tracks were in a straight line with the back paw stepping on the front paw print. No off track like a dog. 7546

I'd call those dog tracks, probably large domestic but possibly wolf if there wolves in your area. Almost always coyote tracks will be more oval (longer than wide) and with the middle two toe nails canted towards each other. The shape of the pads and the visible toe nails almost certainly rule out feline.
Tracks in snow or sand will make them appear larger than they really are but in comparison to your hand those appear to be quite large.

Coyote tracks? I believe that I am located directly west of you a couple miles and I have heard the coyotes howling and carrying on in your direction before. It sounded very eerie.

I thought it could be a fisher, but just looked it up and they have 5-toes. So I now go cry wolf.
