yeah it only got down to about 31 for a few hours at most not really enough to get things going. sap still coming in but not to much any more. hit 50 here too. gravity still dripping a little and have about 125 gallons from vac so far see what we have by morning. if we get a little freeze tonight then we might get a little more. It amazing what a 1 or 2 degrees will do!!! as I am finding that out this season.

What a difference 50 miles, a few hundred feet of elevation, and a North facing woods makes! It's just before 9:00 P.M. and I netted better than 1/2 GPT today on gravity. The thermometer in the door yard reads 35, and with this clear windless night we should easily get down to 25 degrees. You guys in south and central NH had the early season, looks like we're just coming into the heart of ours.

225 gallons collected here yesterday. Froze up good last night, 22 outside at this time. Full moon tonight should be a good night in the sugar house. We fired up at three yesterday afternoon and shut down at eleven last night and will go at it this morning and collected later in afternoon. Looks good for the rest of the week and weekend. Bunny outfits for Sunday:lol:

Good run yesturday, froze up last night should run great today and all week.
Froze up good for me as well. At 34 by 8 with good sun it should be a great run for me as well. I'm thinking the sap should last a while I still have a at least a foot of snow in the woods. Been a while since we've had snowpack this late into the year but its got to help.

Was 27 in Merrimack this morning, maybe that will wake the trees up cause yesterday they didnt do much.
I did finish a boil I started the day before, got through 50 gallons of sap, made exactly 8 pints last night. I have 30 more gallons of sap waiting to be boiled down, but Im gonna wait it out until Friday or Saturday and hopefully can bang out 1 more gallon of syrup. I am DONE after I finish up with this load of sap and what ever I get in my buckets over the next day or so.
I'm really surprised today, its 46 and brilliant sunshine and my trees aren't doing squat.

Thats what im afraid im gonna see when i get home tonight too :-( I had icey puddles in the drive way when I left this morning, but im not sure how long it got below freezing last night. I had a feeling it was going to be over this week for me. so im not too disappointed, Ive had a lot of fun doing this my 1st season.

1/2 gal/tap on homemade vacuum so far today (still coming, but slow now). I'm at 1000' and our slope faces north, so it stays cooler here. I'm in Temple, which is in the south. The tops of the birches are turning red with buds, but no other signs of life in the trees yet. I'm guessing one more week left for me - yesterday's syrup was light amber and last year it got pretty dark before the end...

Hoping that this isn't the end of the season over here. I collected about 2 cups - yes cups - from my taps today. All taps were dry.
I finished off the near-syrup from my last boil last Sunday and bottled 111 oz.
I have 30 gallons that I've collected since Sunday waiting to be boiled. I plan to boil that down tomorrow evening.

I have great southern exposure, may make a difference, 18 taps have filled two 60 gallon drums in three days and running a stream still at 10:45 pm. Over 5 gallons since sundown. Will have to take the day off tomorrow to boil as we have run out of storage

I'm planning on doing my last boil tonight of the 30 gal. I have in storage since Sunday. I've had very little sap this week and thought that I would have a little more, but I guess the nighttime temps haven't been cold enough for my trees. I'll wait until next week to pull the taps. Maybe I'll get a wee bit more from my trees.

got 210 gallons yesterday and 225 the day before, still going good:cool:
I picked up 150 gallons yesterday which is about 1/2 a run. Didn't get anything on vac last night. When my daughter was tucking the releaser in for the night, one of the lines got unplugged. So no vac all night, but not much sap in the lines when I plugged it back in this morning.

We will be all done tomorow. The holes are starting to dry up. We pulled all the taps tonight. Good season in southern NH. Lee

I got nothing yesterday and very little the day before. The weather doesn't look promising for the future so I'm thinking about pulling the taps.
