last week i had several small runs with really cold nights,wasnt really getting enough sap to collect so i thought id just remove the ice everyday but leave the sap in the bucketts to see what would happen......saturday morning i collected 30 gallons of sap.tested several buckets for sugar content.most were rite around 4% but i had one that tested rite at 7%!!!......long story short....the 30 gallons boiled down to 5 quarts!!! so im happy with the test results to say the least.

We collected about 30 gallons on Friday night into two 15 gallon drums. One of them tested at 5%. Love that free RO.

I have done this before also. Poor mans RO. Two years ago i had some that tested just over 4.5%. Wish it would happen more often.

The Poor Man's RO worked great for me a few times this season.
I was smiling ear-to-ear; 4.5% is a lot better than 2%. The whole time the gears in my brain are spinning: so this is what it's like to have an RO. Must get one for next year!
