View Full Version : Running Good In Walpole
Saps running good this weekend in Walpole on top of the hill. I am up in elevation and the sap has finally started to run good. Had strong west wind with mixture of sun and clouds the last two days. I made a little over 3 gals out of my 120 taps this weekend. Checked the tanks a little while ago, and there is enough to boil again tomorrow. My wife and daughters helped me take the flu and flat pan off the evaporator so I could soak them overnight to clean them. We also got all the ash out from the arch. Hopefully a few more days like this and I will make a lot of syrup. Already up to 9 and 3/4 gallons. All light and medium amber. Not to bad. Hopefully, everybody else is having good luck.

Finally got a good run at my new location. 20 gallons of sap out of 24 taps. I wish I got that production all season, which was what I had hoped for. Maybe next year.

Opened up pretty good today, not the tsunami I am expecting though. Yet!

Despite the North wind and my elevation and cold North facing woods I netted 1/2 GPT today, and this weeks forecast looks like we should be into a strong second half of the season. The sugar content has come up for me as well; the first half of the season I was only at 1.2 to 1.4 (mostly reds), now we're at 1.8. Good luck guys,
Doc

Not much here, probably 75 gallons from 600 taps. Glad I went skiing.
