I haven't tried snapple bottles but something similar, mocha coffee and apple juice jugs with metal "button" caps. They all sealed well and pop just like regular canning lids. Get a good bottle brush so you can clean the insides well. I sterilized both the jars and lids in boiling water and kept the jars hot until bottling. Just make sure the lids are in perfect shape and not dented or mishapen.

Sounds like a good plan as long as your not selling the syrup, its required to use new bottles if you are.

I used them last weekend for the first run of the year and they all sealed up, I heated up the bottles first and the original lids and they worked great, the rest of the family thought I was crazy but I proved them wrong

They work great, the lids pop when they seal(the pop like when you canning that means it just vacuum in the lid to form the seal)I also use Corona bottles and a 15 dollar caper it looks cool to give them as gifts and bring a six pack to work and see what the boss says!!!This is just one boiling I did awhile ago.Going out now to collect sap to see what I will add to the 110 gallons stored in the snow bank to start boiling today tonight Sunday??

I too, used Snapple bottles as well as iced tea bottles. I clean them in water as hot as I can stand. I cut most of the stem off of a hand operated bottle brush, the kind with a twisted wire metal stem, and crimped on a short length of 3/16 or 1/4 metal brake line tube. Then I chuck the brush in the cordless drill. There are brushes out there that will enter the neck of the 250ml maple leaf bottle. That's so small I doubt my little finger would fit. Really scrubs them out.

This is such a cool idea, I like the Corona bottles idea, I must now get a 6 pack of Corona and drink while boiling down and re-use for syrup!!
