Silver maples

Well against my better judgement, I just tapped 20 smaller silver maples. I figure they will produce some sap for the weekend. The teacher always told me I would be wrong two out of three times but atleast I do better than the weather man. Never the less, I should have enough sap now to entertain my guests.

All I tap are Silver Maples. I get 2.5 brix out of my sap.

Good syrup but lots of sugar sand. I filter between 1-2 pints before I have to clean filter.

The silver maples in our town are flowering already.

I have no issues with the sap that the silvers produce, it's just now I have another 20 taps to deal with. Somebody please send me some warmer weather.
