Hey guys,

I am getting prepped for my new pan to come in the mail on Friday, I picked up the ball valves for the preheater and for drawing off the syrup. My question is, when making the connections, do you use plumbers tape on the threads, or no?

Thanks

I did. I was just a little extra careful not to get the tape hanging in too far. Actually I made a turn or so before the tape even started in. Hopefully that was an OK thing to do.

Yes they make a special teflon tape with nickel in it to prevent stainless threads from galling when tightened, well worth the money i learned the hard way and ruined a couple fittings years ago

What's the benefit of running stainless over brass?

no lead, unless it is lead free brass, becoming more common
