Moldy filter!!

Just discovered we had not washed a used orlon filter after last use a week or so ago and it has some black mold on it!!! It was stored in a plastic bag to be washed but somehow was overlooked. Has anyone had this happen and managed to salvage the filter? It is a fairly new one but am willing to chuck it if there is not a good way to restore it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You could try boiling it, but I'd chuck it - mold tastes nasty and it would be really disappointing to get that flavor in your syrup.

Throw it away. Next time put it in the freezer in a plastic bag.
