I am pretty sure the elbow 90 degree to keep soot or ashes away from my pan cost me stack temp.

Yesterday was the first fire with the elbow so I am not positive yet. I burn outdoors with no protection from the elements. Yesterday was windy, a short fire too, but long enough to get my temps.

Maybe I am wrong.

Before the elbow , no blower, stack was approx. 750F, now with elbow up top, stack temp, no blower approx 550F- 600F.

Does anyone know anything to support this ?

Thanks.

Terry

Yes, every curve you have in the stack restricts air flow. I would just add a few more feet on the straight stack to get the smoke up and away.

Thanks Mike....Saved the day again.

As you know, yesterday was nasty to boil but I only had a bit and didnt want to use propane.

Looks like a bit more pipe or run the blower more often, pipe probably, blower bugs me if always running !!

Thanks.
