On an average how many gals of fuel oil does it take to make a gal of syrup? I know that there are a lot of variables in this question, so just give me an average.

Boiling raw sap, I get about 2 1/2gallons of fuel to 1 gallon of syrup.

Fred,

It seems 3 to 4 gallons is the norm, 3.5 seems to be the magic number. :)

I think that I am going to stick with wood as long as I can cut it. I got a splitter and the Kubota with skidding winch and FEL.

If you have an R.O. you should use less than a gallon.

Mike,

With the RO machine are you still boiling raw sap? I stopped doing that when I got mine.

I only boiled raw sap once. Since then it's been 20%+
