Hi everyone I am new to the Trader but have been reading it since last season when I started sugaring. This is my second year. Last year 30 taps this year 55. Home made "Davey Jones"evaporator 2x3 Wegner flat pan with 2x1 warmer. Working by myself so I don't have a lot of time to spare as you all know! I am in New York Mid-Hudson Valley, Orange County, Town of Cornwall. HERE IS THE PROBLEM! Bought a Coffee Urn to bottle and it heats up fine with water and holds a good 186dF and tested it for over an hour and it holds temp fine. But if I put Syrup in it to bottle, it only will get to 176 or 174! I should say there is no heat where I bottle so the syrup goes in cold. What am I doing wrong? Also does anyone have the you tube link for the comic that did the bit on the price of syrup and tryed to make it himself? It was on the trader last season.
Thanks, Georgelineman

If you can, crank up the thermostat in the coffee urn to 190-195. You could also preheat the bottles by putting them in hot water.

Maybe try putting the syrup in it hot not cold?
