I wouldn't. Plastic is porous and a lack of smell doesn't mean there isn't still some bleach there. The easy rule I tell people is if you aren't willing to drink a glass of what was in the container then don't put sap in it. Yeah there's chlorine in public water etc, but that's just my opinion.

Do a search on craigslist around your area for ( food grade barrels ) That is where I found mine. Huge selection of different sizes 20 miles from me. I'm sure alot of people sell them.

Don't people clean sap tanks with bleach though?

It use to be a common practice but many found out you can never get it all out. It is rough on stainless causing it to pit. Water with a good brushing is the best way. Bleach or chlorine will cause a off flavor. Also leaves a after taste in you mouth or more precise on your tongue.

I don't use bleach on my tanks I just figured that if people cleaned tanks with it it would be fine to use a drum that had bleach in it, but if it didn't work to clean tanksmimwouldnt put sap in it

Read the side of a Clorox bottle. You'll toss those tanks after you do that. Clorox that sits in plastic chemically works on the plastic. I think hdpe is immune for 30 days, but after that Clorox slowly but surely eats away at it.

I once used bleach to clean my buckets. Talking about Peres per thousand and the smell never went away
