i know i seen info on here about the hydrotherm but not finding what im looking for.here it is..should i be reading the red on the long lines or the short ones.i think i understand the prime is 3 1/2 to 4 lines above but is this short lines or the long ones.any and all advice needed.second season with using it and it seems more frustrating than just using a thermometer so far.thanks

My hydrotherm is graduated in 2/10 Brix. So when the red column floats even with the surface of the syrup, the syrup is about 65.8 . So if you were shooting for 66 Brix then you would want the red column one line above the surface. Don't worry about long or short lines as they are all or should be 2/10 Brix. At least mine is. I have also checked mine for accuracy with my hydrometer and it pretty darn close. I hope that makes sense.

thanks ,ive been going almost all times 4-6 lines above .if my syrup seems a little thick will it hurt it in the long run.i will try from now on to bring it down a little.but also if it wont hurt it i dont mind it being on the thick side usually gets thin when u use on things that are hot anyway.just dont want jars of crystalized syrup.thanks again
