View Full Version : Small Brothers Inc Pan question - should I use

I am fairly new to this and just picked up a old Small Brothers Inc. pan out of Dunham, Quebec. it does not have a serial# or Model # that I can see on the lable it looks to be Tin maybe with 2 of the corners and the drain spouts having some soider. if I clean it up do you think it is safe to use

It looks like an english tin pan. Those are typically soldered pans, and the solder was most likely a lead type solder. Those are OK to use, you just dont want to be real agressive in cleaning it. leaving the tarnish over the solder greatly limits the impact of the lead solder on your syrup.
You still cant say lead free though, which is an typically an organic demand.
I made a lot of good syrup on a set of english tin pans years back.
