In a Ton of SAP!!!! Not necessarily a bad thing!

I boiled 65 Gallons down yesterday and last collection was Friday evening. Boiled to almost nothing last night except maybe 5 gallons that just ran in my gravity line. Today I have another 72 Gallons...

2013- The year of the Never-Ending Sap! Compared to last year!

I know what you mean. I think we'll get caught up in the next couple of days.

Don,

Here is my suggestion: look at my Flux Capacitor thread. You can switch that thing on overnight and it removes half to 75 percent of the water from the sap while you sleep.

The soft maples I tap were asleep today for some reason, HOWEVER, the 4 taps that I have in sugar maples gave me 7 gallons today! The buckets were pouring over the top when I got to them. There was no way to get them off their hooks without dumping sap.

I'm in the middle of my first boil right now. Am I happy? You bet I am! Getting ready to hook up the lights for a boil that will go into the night. I'm six hours in and loving it!

Lmao! I might actaully need arm floaties if my creek floods any more...

I decided to start boiling again and all night then I can bottle it all together tomorrow night and I wont go over my sap holding capacity.

Karen good job!

collected on saturday, i had about 15 gallons from 10 yard taps and 50 gallons from 290 taps in the woods, sunday i collected about 10 gallons from yard taps and 150 ish from woods. unfortunately i was not able to boil last night, and today i am guessing that i will get at least 150-200 gallons total, so i will have 300-350 to boil. at 15 ish gph i think i will be there a while. it would be nice if it would even out but thats not not how it works. feast or famine.

What is nice about an RO is that it removes water while you are away. The difference in volume is just as amazing as sap to syrup. When you have a couple barrels reduced to a couple buckets without doing anything you check if there's a leak somewhere.
