I have a new Phaneuf 2 X 3 and will probably use a digital as well as a dial. The usual suspects (Bascom, Leader) sell pan thermometers but they seem, I dunno....pricy....do I bite the [silver] bullet and drop the dineros or is there a middle ground to get something as functional/accurate for less $$$$?

Taylor makes several digital models. The ones with about a 3 foot probe and cable are around $20 at the big box stores and our local farm supply chain store. They also have an alarm you can program. Very handy device.

I have had several inexpensive digital thermometers fail. The ones with the probe and long braided wire seem to be the least dependable in my experience. I've bought a good Hannah digital that has never failed.

hey buck3m….just wondering which Hannah digital thermometer you have. I just did a search, and there are many different types and models. I like the alarm option…any suggestions?
