Its been running slow in Middlesex I have boiled 134 gallons so far I had to quit at 1 today as I was out of sap plus I had a leak in head tank that I needed to repair. It will pick up soon I still got plent of snow I do not think things are fully thawed yet.

As long as the snow is still tight to the trees, that means they are still frozen and they won't run hard. Our day will come, I actually want to see it stay warm around the clock for a couple days.

steve j does your 2x4 have any problem keeping up with the 200 taps you have?

and i the snow is around the botton of the trees there is still 2 feet of snow here so i hope it melts away so the sap will start to run
better

Well I have had it for 2 seasons last year it never got tested year before I ran out of wood was keeping up but was boiling 8 hours at a clip so 200 is a tad much

I notice Bill has a new pan for 2x4 with dividers running across it thus sap travels farther and it is suppose to evaporate more. I am trying to find out how fast that rate is if its a lot faster I may buy a new pan for mine.

wo what do you get for a evap rate on the arch you have now? and how much sap do you get from your taps each day?

Not running here in central Vt right now, snow is leaving my trees so I expect it will pick up soon. The cold later this week will be ok for a recharge and maybe another good run ...

I have around 120 gallons stored so I can boil anytime now... just need that time...

I get on average 15 gals per hour boil rate but I have had a little better luck this year with blower not melting my stack down so I think I am boiling a tad faster. I had access to a bit more soft wood and that seems to keep the stack from melting vs when I am forced to use more hardwood. Well it has not run hard yet but its been steady . On good hard runs I will fill my 2 gallon buckets daily.
