I am figuring on needing atleast 700gallons per day next year. Anybody have any idea how I can calculate the number of taps I will need for that?

Flatfoot,

On a typical run you can expect to get about 1 gallon of sap per tap per day. That will vary depending on the weather and if you are using buckets or tubing and if the tubing is gravity or on vacuum. From my own experiences I get the most out the tubing on vacuum then the buckets and then the tubing on gravity.

Flatfoot,

700 taps/gallons with a 2.5 x 8 will make for some very, very long days. 8O

I know I am looking at long days...have vacation time all planned. I was thinking of trying 600-700 taps. I also have someone that helps me out, so if need be we boil in shifts so to speak. I am figuring on 12-16hour days.
